Sunday Service: "Shame, Blame and Violence: The Unholy Trinity"

We encounter Jesus in his role as social reformer, messiah and supposedly dangerous instigator. What is the meaning of his message, ministry and suffering in 21st century America when so many so-called Christians behave and believe exactly as did the Romans who crucified him?

"Shame, Blame and Violence: The Unholy Trinity" [Palm Sunday]

—Rev. Dr. Victoria Weinstein

For our Palm Sunday reflection we encounter Jesus in his role as social reformer, messiah and supposedly dangerous instigator. What is the meaning of his message, ministry and suffering in 21st century America when so many so-called Christians behave and believe exactly as did the Romans who crucified him?

Sunday’s service will conclude with a Communion Service to which all are unconditionally welcome. Please gather at the chancel during the Postlude if you would like to participate.

----

We will be together at church and on Facebook Live.

If you will be joining us online you can access the Order of Service here (updated document will be posted 24-48 hours before the Sunday Service). For the morning offertory you may donate online here. If you will not be able to attend the service in person but have a joy, sorrow, milestone or prayer request to share with the minister and congregation, you are welcome to submit that here.

We encourage the wearing of masks when we are together. Masks are an easy and simple way to minimize worry over sharing germs as we enjoy each other’s company.  For those of you who would like to maintain social distance in the sanctuary (which has several air filters running every Sunday), the front side of the sanctuary by the wooden Lydia Breed sculpture is reserved for you. (See diagram here.)
