FERRY BEACH 2023

Our annual retreat was a big success! More than thirty UUCGL folks journeyed north to spend a few days in Saco, Maine at the Ferry Beach Retreat & Conference Center at the end of April.

By day we engaged in various activities like creating zentangles, fuse bead art (led by Suzanne Chapman), and meditation with Rev. Chris followed by mandala making on the beach (led by Trinidad Martinez). We had the opportunity to learn to play the ukulele with the “Uketarians” from the First Parish Church of Stow & Acton, with whom we shared the weekend. The kids climbed trees, flew kites, and enjoyed the playground while the adults enjoyed each other’s company. The food was delicious and the weather (mostly) cooperated.

By night we circled around a roaring bonfire with enough s’mores supplies to last for days and then we slept by the roaring ocean.

The two churches ended the weekend by worshipping together Sunday morning with Rev. Vicki and Rev. Cyndy leading the service. Some of us stopped at the nearby Laurel Hill Cemetery to view some breathtaking fields of daffodils before heading home with the memories and new friendships that are ours to keep.
