The remarkable confrontation between a Ukrainian woman and a Russian soldier a few days ago has captured our imaginations. Her courage, her curse, his authority, his impassivity; it was a moment of profound moral tension. We will reflect on it, and pray for peace, together.
The image is a painting by celebrated Ukrainian artist Maria Prymachenko, twenty of whose works were destroyed by Russian troops on March 2, 2022.
We will be together in the sanctuary and on Facebook Live. For the morning offertory you may donate online.
