Will My Vote Count? Does It Even Matter?
When national leaders suggest we “shouldn’t even have an election,” it raises real questions about the state of voting today. Are our ballots secure? Who is being targeted by voter suppression? What threats are real — and what’s noise? And, how can we better understand the questions on the ballot this November and the implications of each of the 9 being voted on?
Join us on October 21st for an open, community-centered conversation about the midterm elections with Liv Santoro, Deputy Field Director for Civic Engagement & Mobilization, ACLU of Massachusetts.
The UUA's nation-wide voting campaign aims to "defend voting rights, strengthen democratic participation, and cultivate communities committed to justice". UUA refers to voting as "a sacred practice of how we live together, rooted in covenant, collective accountability, and the inherent worth and dignity of every person." This event invites you to explore what that means in a moment when voting rights face new pressures.
We will be recording the event. Those who cannot attend will be able to view the video shortly afterward on our YouTube or website pages.
