In 2007 the Unitarian Universalist Church of Greater Lynn initiated a new social justice effort in Lynn. One of the organizations we are partnering with is the Boys & Girls Club. Gang involvement and teen violence are serious issues facing young people in Lynn and the Boys & Girls Club provides a safe after-school place for young people.
The church has funded a Youth Programs Coordinator position at the Boys & Girls Club. We have built community with the youth by bringing dinner ingredients one night a week for us to jointly prepare and eat together. We have also hosted several family nights as well as some crafts and other social events for the younger children at the club.
