The Adult Choir at UUCGL is open to anyone in high school and beyond. We have had singing members from the age of 14 through 85, and the group is warm and welcoming toward anyone who loves to sing and/or wants to learn to sing. There are no auditions, and the ability to sight-read is not a requirement.
Weekly choir rehearsals are on Thursdays from 7:30 to 9:00 p.m. and on Sundays before worship from 9:00 to 9:45 a.m. Many people have periodic conflicts with rehearsals, and when this happens, they sign out on the choir calendar. If they must miss a Thursday rehearsal and wish to sing for the following Sunday service, they speak with the director of music, who determines whether or not they are sufficiently prepared to sing with the choir for the anthem that morning. In this way, participation in choir remains a manageable commitment for everyone.
Choir is an intensely rewarding experience for its members. The variety of musical styles, the supportive fellowship, the contributions to meaningful worship experiences and the high musical standards combine to create the center of church activities for its many members.
