Our Minister

Reverend Vann Knight is a native of Alabama, having grown up there during the Civil Rights movement of the 1960s.

A graduate of Samford University, Birmingham, Alabama, he received his Master of Divinity from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, Louisville, Kentucky. More recently, he completed the coursework for the Doctor of Ministry degree at Graduate Theological Union, Berkeley, California.

His journey as a parish minister for over 30 years has given him an understanding of conservative and liberal Christianity, as well as familiarity with Eastern religions. In addition, his interest in science influences his concepts and images of the sacred.

His core theology is that we are what we think. His spirituality is rooted in the practices of letting go and of attributing sacredness to the ordinary.

He and his wife, Linda Lee Knight, are dual citizens of the United States and Canada. For eight years, Reverend Knight was Parish Minister of First Unitarian Church of Victoria, British Columbia. During his last sabbatical, he served as Visiting Minister to the Auckland Unitarian Church in Auckland, New Zealand. Since 2001, Reverend Knight has been Parish Minister of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Greater Lynn.
